Poker.com Review

Review of the Poker.com Website

Poker.com ReviewPoker.com, the site with the best domain name in the industry, is surprisingly lacking in content.  Considering the inherent value in the domain name alone, I was surprised to find that Poker.com doesn’t offer anything to stand out from other poker sites I’ve run across on the net.

Poker.com Articles Review

There are the same old re-hashed articles on pot odds, rules of the game, winning hands and…that’s about it!  I guess that as a serious poker player, I tend to weigh my website grading scales a little towards the strategy content side.  I mean if poker sites are going to have ads for revenue, then I think they should return something of value to the visitors.  I’m not saying Poker.com doesn’t have anything to offer, I was just surprised that a site with such a great domain name has such generic content.

Poker.com Poker Glossary

Poker.com Poker GlossaryThey do a great job in a couple of other areas though.  They have developed a comprehensive and easy-to-navigate Poker.com poker glossary.  Just about every poker term I could think of, even some of the more obscure ones, was listed.  Nice work there, Poker.com.

Poker.com Pro Index

Another thing Poker.com has done right is the Poker Pro Index.  They have almost 40 short biographies on the big name pros.  The bios have a good deal of information on each pro and make for some interesting reading.

On the front page there are reviews for five different poker rooms.  Three of the reviews actually exist, but the other two just lead straight to the poker room when the “Read Our Review” link is clicked.  The three reviews that do work are each broken up into separately rated categories and then are given a final, comprehensive rating at the bottom.

Poker.com Blog

Whoever blogs for Poker.com does a good job keeping it updated.  It mostly contains content of the “news and views” variety. A glance through some of the entries revealed a poker DVD review, a site review and a blurb on Chip Reese’s death.

Poker.com Forums Review

Poker.com has forums available but they are pretty much deserted.  That was a surprise as well because I figured that a domain like Poker.com would have loads of visitors and therefore more forum traffic.  I counted almost 40 different forum categories but the majority of the most recent posts are more than a month old.  The infrastructure is there if they could just get more visitors to sign up and chat.

The news section gets about four or five updates a month, or once a week.  Most of the updates cover live tournament events and a list of the winners.  There were a couple of interesting tidbits but nothing groundbreaking.

Overall, I give this site a mediocre rating.  The site is easy to navigate and easy on the eyes, but the content is pretty lackluster.  Nothing really stands out to make me want to visit again.  It’s not a terrible site by any means, but I expected a lot more from Poker.com.
