PokerNews.com Review
Poker News.com Website Review
Immediately upon entering the Poker News.com website, I was pleasantly surprised by its content and design. Not only is the huge amount of content impressive but the intuitive organization of everything makes it all easy to work with. Every type of content, whether it be news, rules of the game or strategy is nicely organized by subject and game type.
Poker News at PokerNews.com
If you click on the News link at the top of the front page, it will bring up a page with more news stories and a big list of news categories to the right. It’s a nice place to find news on the subjects you’re interested in.
The Poker Rules link will take you to a section devoted to, you guessed it, the rules of poker. Here you can find the rules to the most common poker variants ranging from Hold’em to Crazy Pineapple.
PokerNews.com Strategy Section
The PokerNews.com strategy section is devoted to articles and they are all nicely categorized on the right side of the page. Interestingly, the majority of the strategy articles at Poker News are for Stud poker. I was kind of hoping for more Hold ‘Em strategy in this section, but I must admit there is a major lack of Stud strategy on the net. So while this won’t be useful to as many people as it would be if it was dedicated to a more common game, it will be extremely beneficial to those working on their Stud games.
Online Poker Reviews at Poker News.com
If you click on the Online Poker link it brings up a very long list of poker rooms, bonuses and reviews for all the sites. I don’t even want to know how long it must have taken to type up the reviews for so many sites. Another nice feature is that US Flags are used to designate US-friendly poker rooms. Along the right hand side of this page is a list of upcoming freerolls at various poker sites. And, in keeping up with the thorough nature of the site, there’s a list of Mac and Linux-friendly poker rooms to make it easier on you Mac and Linux people.
PokerNews.com Live Reporting
The Live Reporting section at PokerNews.com is neat because it keeps up on live events in real time. There was a major tournament going on at the time I reviewed Poker News and they had hourly updates of big hands, chip counts and bust-outs. At the top of this page is a link to the video gallery which is equally impressive. There they have many high quality videos that are uploaded almost immediately after the events depicted in the videos take place. Down at the bottom is an upcoming tournaments schedule which is straightforward and easy to use.
PokerNews Forums
The PokerNews forums are moderately populated but they don’t even come close to traffic numbers of some of the bigger forums. A smaller community isn’t always a bad thing though if you’re looking for some good natured chit-chat. The discussions are civilized even if the strategy talk isn’t the most advanced.
Whoever runs PokerNews.com really seems to care about the site. The content is top notch, the organization makes it simple to navigate and it is constantly updated. The room reviews are honest, the bonus list is comprehensive and the strategy articles are informative. I suggest you give this site a look and add it to your favorites list.
