PokerPages.com Review
Poker Pages.com Content Review
Pokerpages.com contains a well-rounded wealth of information on cash games, tournaments and live events. The site is easy to navigate and, with its use of white space, easy on the eyes.
The first thing I noticed upon entering this site was how well developed its articles section is. On the front page there was a hand analysis and it was surprisingly in depth and well-written. Upon further examination, I found that the entire article section is of the same caliber. There are hundreds of article in there dating back to 2001.
PokerPages.com Top Earner of the Month
One of the coolest things on the front page is the “top earner of the month” section. It’s a little bio on whoever’s won the most money in tournaments in the last thirty days. If you click on that person’s profile you can learn more about him or her.
Poker Pages.com Tournament Information
Poker Pages.com also has tournament information categorized into past tournaments, current tournaments, and future tournaments. This section lists the dates, locations, contact information, buy-ins and results for all major live tournaments. If you’re interested, you can click on the name of any player who placed to view that person’s profile, including major tournament wins and total money won.
Poker Pages News
The news section is massive as well. The news database contains over a thousand articles and they are conveniently assorted into three categories: Poker News, Online Poker, and Tournament News. I haven’t seen any other major sites break their news sections down so nicely. Whatever you’re looking for can be found in PokerPages’ massive news archive.
In comparison to the rest of the site, the video section is a little weak. There were some decent interviews there but the last video update was in 2006. The updates in that area are a little slow to say the least. What videos they do have are of decent quality but nothing spectacular.
PokerPages.com Blog Review
The blog section is very nicely done though. The blogs of seven poker pros (most notably T.J. Cloutier) are available and updated regularly. If you’re interested in the daily lives of the pros, give the blogs section a look.
There is a forum but it is only moderately populated. The main problem is that they don’t have enough categories. The only category to discuss strategy is called “Poker Chat” and that category also includes tournament discussion, news and anything else poker related. If they could properly divide the topics, it would probably help increase memberships.
Poker Pages Free Software
They also have a free software download to play in the pokerpages.com cardroom. There you can play with play money for practice and join the Poker Pages Skill League. In the league you can earn bonus points to use at one of their affiliated real-money cardrooms. These points can then be used to buy in to tournaments with real money prizes. It’s not a bad way to start a bankroll if you don’t have any money to spare a first time deposit.
Although pokerpages.com has a couple of weak spots, the site is a must-add to your favorites list. The strategy articles are simply amazing and come highly recommended by me. Give it a look sometime, you won’t be disappointed.
