Qualify for the LAPT at PokerStars

PokerStars LAPTPokerstars will be running satellite tournaments for the LAPT – Latin American Poker Tour, which will be hosted in 2008 by Brazil, Costa Rica and Uruguay. With the major success of both the Asia Pacific Poker Tour and the European Poker Tour, the LAPT is bound to attract plenty of well-known international poker players.

You can also be sure that more countries will be getting in on the action in 2009, as this was the richest tour ever held in Latin America.

Players who would like to play in the LAPT can qualify online at Pokerstars for as little as $2 or just buy-in directly. PokerStars is currently running satellites for LAPT Punta del Este (Uruguay), with buy-ins starting from just $2.20. Players can also qualify though Sit & Go satellites for as little as $7.50, and 500 FPP credits will also get you a spot at one of the satellite tables.

The winner of the Punta del Este prize package will receive $1,560 for expenses, plus hotel accommodations and a $2,500 + $200 event buy-in. If you win, you’re almost certain to bump into members of Team Pokerstars at the tournament, especially Brazilian Andre Akkari and Costa Rican legend Humberto Brenes.

  • This three-day $2,500 Texas No Limit Hold'em poker tournament takes place at the Intercontinental Hotel, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil from May 3-5, 2008. 19-year-old Dutchman Julien Nuijten won the event, walking away with $222,940 and becoming the first PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour champion.
Ramada Plaza Herradura
San José, Costa Rica

  • This three-day $2,500 Texas No Limit Holdem poker event takes place at the luxurious Ramada Plaza Herradura Hotel, San José in Costa Rica from May 22-24, 2008. This event was won by Pokerstars qualifier Valdemar Kwaysser, who took the top prize of $274,103 back home to Hungary.

Punta del Este, Uruguay

  • This three-day $2,500 Texas No-Limit Hold 'Em poker tournament takes place at the luxury Mantra Resort Spa Casino in Punta del Este, Uruguay from August 7-9, 2008. Qualifying satellites started on PokerStars in early June of that year.
