Cool Poker Websites
The Coolest Poker Sites We Could Find
This page serves as a listing for really cool poker websites. We only list websites that offer something of value to readers. The coolest poker sites are usually the ones with the least advertising, but what makes a poker site "cool" boils down to one thing - content. Science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon is known for an adage called Sturgeon's Law: "90% of everything is crap." That applies to websites about poker and gambling as well as everything else. We try to only list sites here that are in the 10% of stuff that isn't crap.
Blackjack Hero - If there's one gambling card game that a poker player should learn that isn't related to poker, it's blackjack. And if you want to learn about blackjack, the coolest blackjack site I know of is Blackjack Hero. The site has a couple hundred pages of information, including a detailed guide to counting cards and a hand by hand explanation of blackjack basic strategy. The site also profiles several professional blackjack players and covers televised blackjack tournaments.
Another site about bonus codes for online poker rooms, Bonus Internet Poker covers a few more poker sites than this humble site. But the information about signup bonuses isn't what makes this a cool website. It's the poker strategy content that really signs on this site, especially the section on razz poker strategy, which is an unusual subject to find covered in any depth anywhere, online or off. This site is no Play Winning Poker, but it's worth a visit anyway.
Cards Chat - This is my favorite poker forum, mostly because I like the owner of the site so much. The site has great rankings in the search engines for dozens of popular and extremely competitive poker related terms, and that's because the owner has put so much work into the site and its content. The community there is friendlier than the community at Two Plus Two, which is probably the only competitor for biggest poker forum online, but the CardsChat posters aren't as erudite either. In any case, if you want to find a poker forum to post at, this is a good one to look at.
Compatible Poker - This website is devoted exclusively to the Mac poker community, and the information presented there for people wanting to find a Mac compatible program is accurate and helpful. The site also includes sections outlining various deposit options, observations about which online poker rooms accept USA-based players, and offers information about signup bonuses at various poker rooms. Compatible Poker also presents pages devoted to Mac users who want to play casino games like blackjack and video poker too.
Free Blackjack - A new site focusing on free blackjack games. You'll find many helpful links about free blackjack.
Free Craps - Another up and coming site about free craps games and links to free craps resources.
Jeremy Enke - Jeremy has made a name for himself as a guru in the poker affiliate industry, and it's a deserved designation. His blog mostly focuses on motivation, but nothing happens without motivation, so that's a good thing. Jeremy's opinionated, irrevenerent, and always thinking about something new, so his blog is worth taking a daily look at. He even gives a little poker SEO advice from time to time too. (Although most of what he knows about SEO he learned from me anyway. Just kidding.
Low Limit Blog – This is one of the better poker blogs online. It covers the trials and tribulations of a single low limit player. And he's not just playing low limits - he's playing micro stakes. Most thoughtful players and poker bloggers are writing about some more mid-stakes and higher-stakes games, or they cover a lot of poker news, so a site that focuses on really low stakes poker playing is a real treat.
Low Limit Holdem – This website is aimed at beginning and intermediate Texas holdem players who want to improve their game. Most players of this skill level are playing loose, low stakes games, so the articles focus on strategies and tactics which apply to that specific niche. They offer a specific route for progressing from play money Texas holdem games to real money games, and the strategy tips and articles are well-written and compelling. The site covers the types of poker strategy topics you'd expect: starting hand requirements, betting rounds, probabilities, and bonus clearing. The advice on this site is good for both online Texas holdem players and live players, but focuses more on the Internet aspect of the game.
Low Limit Omaha – This website is operated by the same folks who run Low Limit Holdem, and it takes a similar approach to teaching strategies for beginning and intermediate Omaha games. The information still focuses on the looser, low limit versions of the game. Suggestions for which online poker rooms to play at are included, as well as online Omaha specific strategies and tactics. The site also explains the rake and why the rake is so important. This is one of the better Omaha poker sites on the Internet, and it's well worth a visit.
Low Limit Poker Affiliates – If you're interested in running a poker site or becoming a poker affiliate, you'll find a ton of tricks and tips at this site. The site takes an excellent approach to providing tips for aspiring poker webmasters too. It focuses on building a better quality website. And being a successful poker webmaster begins with offering quality content on a quality website. Based on the quality of the other sites in the Low Limit network, I'd say they understand this well, and so they're good people to get such advice from.
Low Limit Poker Forum - Some poker forums aren't friendly at all. In fact, some of them are downright hostile to newcomers. Members there would rather tell you to use the search function than answer your questions. Low Limit Poker Forum isn't like those sites. It's a friendly, relaxed environment where you can discuss strategies for Texas holdem, Omaha, and stud poker. If you're looking for a poker community to become a part of, then this is an excellent place to start.
Low Limit Stud – Seven card stud seems to have fallen out of favor lately. But this site reminds me of how fun and profitable seven card stud can be. Low Limit Stud covers strategy, tactics, and tips, all aimed at loose, low limit stud games online. Topics covered include game selection, betting rounds, counting cards, clearing bonuses, and semi-bluffs. And if you like to play live, they offer some information about cardrooms in Southern California.
Official Party Bonus Codes - This is the kind of site I wouldn't normally list as a "cool website", because at first glance it looks like the site's sole purpose is to get people to sign up for Party Poker using their bonus code. And the poker room reviews are pretty boilerplate. But upon deeper examination, you'll find links to great poker strategy articles from other sites, which shows a certain unexpected amount of editiorial discretion. I also think that the picture of the semi-naked girl on the homepage is pretty cool, and the site is easy on the eyes and easy to navigate.
Play Winning Poker - Steve Badger's really big poker strategy site has more poker strategy articles than you could shake a stick at. I tried, and I got tired of shaking that stick, lemme tell you. Seriously though, Badger preaches that you should learn to think for yourself when you're considering poker strategy decisions, which is a big difference from most of the cookie cutter advice given out by other "poker strategy gurus" online. His unique approach to poker strategy guarantees his inclusion in almost any list of "cool poker websites".
Poker Tomorrow - This is the coolest poker website of all. No, really. LOL - actually, it's got some pretty neat stuff on it that you won't find on most poker sites. There's an entire section of articles for poker webmasters of any skill level that I'm particularly proud of. The poker strategy content from Tony Guerrera is also really great reading. The site gets new content added to it from time to time, so bookmark the updates page and check back regularly for new content.
Slots Hero - This isn't a poker website at all, but it sure is cool. Slots Hero features over 300 pages of information about slot machines, including details of traditional slot machine games in casinos, like Wheel of Fortune and Elvis slots. Slots Hero also provides extensive coverage of online slots games like Wheel of Chance and It's Good to be Bad. If your brain hurts from too much poker strategy thinking, and you want to do something a lot easier, Slots Hero is a good place to start looking for some information about slot machines.
